Committee Chair: Edda Santiago

Edda is a DBA Director and Treasurer. She is also the Chair of the Scholarship Gala Committee. This committee shall be responsible for, among other duties specified by the Scholarship Gala Chairperson, (A) identifying and selecting candidates for the Association’s scholarship awards, (B) identifying and selecting honorees for the Gala, (C) generally planning the Gala; and (D) performing such other tasks as the Board may request.
Edda is an attorney at Grant, Herrmann, Schwartz & Klinger, LLP where she counsels high-net-worth and multijurisdictional clients in the areas of international tax, estate planning and estate administration. Her practice includes structuring foreign investment in U.S. real estate, developing wealth transfer structures for multinational families and advising domestic clients on estate planning tools. Edda also represents non-profit organizations and private businesses on corporate, finance, compliance and litigation-related matters. Prior to joining her current firm, she worked in the Real Estate Finance Group at the New York City office of an international law firm where she represented investment banks, institutional lenders and investors in the acquisition and financing of multi-million dollar properties.
Edda earned her Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida International University. She also completed graduate work at American University’s School of International Service with a concentration in Comparative and Regional Studies of Latin America.
Edda is actively involved with several professional organizations. She is also a member of the St. John’s School of Law Alumni Board of Directors. Edda has dedicated countless hours to providing pro bono services, mentoring students and engaging in philanthropic activities. She mentors students through the Hispanic National Bar Association, PALS and Legal Outreach mentorship programs. She is a New York Junior League volunteer and has served on the executive committee of the American Ballet Theatre’s Junior Council.
For her work, Edda was the recipient of The Hispanic Coalition of New York 40 under 40 Latino Rising Stars of 2015, The Puerto Rican Bar Association’s 2015 Flor de Maga Young Associate Award, St. John’s School of Law Ronald H. Brown Scholarship and National Women Lawyers Association Award (2014).
Edda was elected Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of The Dominican Bar Association in 2015.
