Hon. Faviola A. Soto is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic summer intern. The intern will work closely with the Judge and her staff to do the Court's work. The internship is full-time and location is partly in Chambers at the Court of Claims in the Financial District and partly at the Bronx Supreme Court. Judge Soto handles bench trials in the Court of Claims and presides over jury trials in Bronx Supreme Court. The internship will run from June 1st to August 1st 2018.
The judicial intern is expected to (1) conduct legal research, analyze case law, and draft bench memoranda, orders and opinions; (2) accompany and assist the judge during discovery conferences, hearings, and trials; (3) handle miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Hiring decisions will be made on a rolling basis; often times before the March 9, 2018 closing date for this posting.

Compensation Details: Although the position is unpaid, the Judge's staff will fill out the necessary paperwork for a school-based stipend/scholarship, work-study program, or course credits.
Hiring Criteria: Must take legal writing and research skills very seriously; must be well organized, professional and courteous. Preferably a student who has a strong interest in civil litigation.
